Scars On My Guitar. A Journey To A Star.

Jim recites a poem he wrote titled "Scars On My Guitar". He tells the story of following his dreams with his guitar throughout his life.

Scars on my guitar.

Put some money in the mason jar and I'll tell you the story about the journey to a star and about all these scars on my guitar. When I was a little boy he was my main toy. He was there when times were tough always by my side even when me and the family there wasn't enough. He was by my side when Mama died. Oh, how we cried…oh, how we cried.

When I became a man and took my bride full of pride he was by my side. Put some more money in the mason jar and I'll tell you the rest of the story about the journey to a star. Now we followed our dream to chase our star, me, my bride and my guitar. He was there when they all turned me down. He was by my side when we slipped out of Nashville town. He was there when our baby was born that same night I lost my bride. Oh, how we cried…how we cried. When they finally heard my song and we went on that big ride I hit my stride. Oh, how we cried…how we cried of joy.

The cheers are all gone the crowds have faded away just me and my guitar and no place to play. Just me, my scars and my guitar as I face every dark night was this journey to a star wrong or right? With each coming day I feel the joy that we can still play me and my guitar, scars on my guitar. How we cry, how we cry.

Put some money in the mason jar, and I'll tell you the story about the journey to a star, scars on my guitar. How we cried, how we cried.

And yes, he's still right here by my side.
